Oppo has launched the A9 2020 model in India, and it can be clearly felt that this Chinese brand is aiming to break the bylaws of the mid-range segment. With the new Oppo A9 2020, you get a quad-camera setup, a high-capacity 5,000mAh battery, and a 3D color gradient on the back, Snapdragon 665 SoC, and good RAM plus storage configurations too.
We get it that Oppo has to survive against the likes of Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Realme, Nokia, and Honor devices. The point is does this smartphone have the capability to stand against the competition?
Let’s check it out in the Oppo A9 2020 review below:
From the very first look, the A9 2020 catches your eye – thanks to its dual-colour 3D gradient design. The device sits comfortably in the hands and looks premium too. Although, its glossy back catches fingerprints and smudges very easily. Using a clear case or any other case will be a great option to avoid them. The back panel packs a triple-camera setup with a depth sensor in vertical alignment along with a fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint sensor is easy to reach and very responsive too. The curved panel on the back looks and feels like glass and makes it slippery too. You can get great discount on electronic items online using rentomojo coupons.
On the right, the Oppo A9 2020 has a power button while the volume buttons and SIM tray sit on the left side. There is nothing on the top and the bottom is fully packed. You get to see a USB Type-C port, speaker grille, microphone, and a 3.5-mm headphone jack on the bottom. This device features connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, and FM Radio and also comes with micro-USB port, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, and compass sensors.
Coming to the display, the Oppo A9 2020 packs a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ (720 × 1600 pixels) resolution. It features a 20:9 aspect ratio which gives it an 82.5 per cent screen-to-body ratio. There is a water-drop notch on the top along with a thick chin at the bottom. Under the direct sunlight, you might find it difficult to read the content – bad side- thanks to its glossy display. The display comes with Widevine L1 certification for HD video playback on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video too.
Under the hood, the A9 2020 has a Snapdragon 665 SoC with an Octa-core CPU clocked up to 2.0GHz and Adreno 610 GPU. The processor is coupled up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The storage can be expanded with a dedicated microSD card slot with support for cards of up to 256GB. The device can handle everything you throw at it and is pretty fast too. But, at this price tag, we expect a better processor- 700 series maybe!
Oppo A9 2020 runs ColorOS 6 out of the box with Android 9 Pie. The ColorOS 6 brings tons of bloatware along with it and users hate it. But, it has been always a problem with these Chinese brand devices.
The Oppo A9 2020 device comes with a quad-camera setup which includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor for depth sensing. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel front camera sensor. In the natural lighting conditions, the images captured came with decent texture, colors, and detail. Images under the low lighting conditions are just okay and the things improve a bit with the dedicated “Night” mode. Overall, the camera does an okay job while capturing images from the camera.
Oppo has bundled up a 5,000mAh high-capacity battery with the support of reverse charging. Yes, you can use this device as a power bank too. The device comes with a 10W charger inside the box which can charge the device from 0 to 100 per cent in about two hours and 30 minutes. The device can last for one full and a half day with ease on casual usage. Use it wildly, you will require a charger in the night. You can get detail of Off-Campus Jobs online from fresh hiring.
